File Manager

The first main module is the File Manager. The file manager is where you can upload files for use within the CMS. These images and files will not be used on your website until they have been assigned to a page via the content browser.

Do NOT delete or rename an image or folder is it or its contents is still assigned to a page via the content browser.


This screen comprises 3 sections. the folder directory, the folder files and the upload box. From the left hand folders section you will see a list of folders and the options add, edit or remove folders. To view what files are in a given folder simply click the folder and the files will appear on the right.

Using the File Manager

Creating a Folder

  1. Choose the new folder button (2)
  2. Enter a name for the folder
  3. The folder will now appear on the in the list of folders (1)

Uploading a file

  1. Choose the folder to upload to (1)
  2. Now click Choose Files (3)
  3. In the window that appears click all the files you wish to upload and then click open
  4. The files will now start to upload
  5. Once finished the files will appear in the list on the right (5)

View files as Thumbnails

  1. You can view files in the file manager as details or thumbnails just choose the required option above the list of files (4)

File Formats

Files should only be uploaded using the following filed types.

File Format File Type Notes
Photo .jpg .png .gif Photos should be in one of these file types. The images themselves should be a maximum of 800 pixels wide.
Documents .pdf In order for users to be able to view documents they should be in a PDF format and optimised for web viewing.
Audio .mp3 Audio files should be in MP3 format and a maximum quality of 128kb/s Stereo.
Video .flv of .mp4

Video Format
OUr player supports both MP4 and FLV. MP4 files will need to be fully downloaded before playback starts while FLV files will start playing once sufficient video has buffered.

Video Sizes
Below are the recommend video sizes.
4:3 Content – 360 x 270 pixels16:9 Content – 480 x 270 pixels

Video Quality
Due to the large nature of video files we recommend that you use as low a video quality setting as you find acceptable. Large video files may take time for users to download and will increase bandwidth usage.


Please Note

Please ensure that files are named correctly. Certain characters can cause problems. All file names should meet the following:

  • Only use lower-case including the file extension
  • Only use letters (a-z) or numbers (0-9)
  • Don't use spaces use _ instead
  • Don't use these characters ( ) < > / \ ? ' ; : - = + ” £ $ % ^ & * ! |
