Setting up MS Outlook Express & MS Outlook 2000

To set-up a POP3 email account please complete the following details:

Start MS Outlook Express or MS Outlook 2000,

If you do not already have Outlook Express configured for an e-mail service then the set-up wizard will start automatically.

Otherwise go to:

Go to Tools | Accounts | Mail (tab) | Add Mail

Then complete the Wizard as follows:

  1. The first window asks for your Name. Enter your name and then click next.
  2. The next window asks for your email address. Enter your new e-mail address and then click next.
  3. The following window asks for your incoming and out going mail server details, these are:

Incoming: This will be your domain name, e.g. www.domain.com
Outgoing: This will be your ISP's outgoing mail server, e.g. smtp.isp.com

Then click next.

  1. You are now asked for your logon details theses would have been supplied in and earlier e-mail, enter these details then click next.
  2. You are then asked for a friendly name, enter a name and then click next
  3. Now you are asked for a type of Internet connection. Click connect using phone line if you are using a modem connected directly to your computer and then click next. If you are connecting to the Internet through a network connection to an ADSL Router or other shared Internet connection device then select LAN as you network connection type.
  4. You will then be asked to select a Dial-Up Connection. Click the ISP and then click next.
  5. Then click on Finish.

In order to receive mail on this account:

Go to Tools | Send and Receive | Send and Receive All Accounts.

To edit a current e-mail account

  1. Go to Tools | Accounts

  2. Choose the e-mail account to edit and click properties
  3. Make the required changes in the appropriate places
  4. If your SMTP mail server requries special settings then My Server requires authentication and choose Settings. Now make the setting changes required by your SMTP provider.
  5. Click OK to save the changes
  6. Then click close.
