Common E-Mail Problems

If you are trying to access your e-mail but are getting an error there are a number of things that you should first check.

  1. Can you access the Internet at all (other than your website). If you cannot access the Internet then there is something wrong with your Internet Connection. Try disconnecting and then re-connecting your Internet Connection. You should also restart your computer as well. If you still cannot access the internet then check with your ISP.

  2. If you can access the Internet then check that you a access your website. If you can not access the website then there may be a server problem or a problem accessing parts of the internet. First reset your Internet Connection and restart your computer. If this does not resolve the problem then check with us that there is not a problem with our servers.

  3. If you have Internet access then check your webmail account. You can access this by going to webmail.yourdomain.com and entering your username and password. e.g. http://webmail.3legs.com. If you can access the mailbox here the the problem is likly you be your connection or your email application.

  4. If you can access your webmail account then check that the username and password in your e-mail software is correct. If you can not login to the webmail account then please contact us.

  5. If you are still having problems check to see if your anti virus* or firewall* software is running correctly. Check the support sections of the websites for the given software applications that you use for any known issues.

  6. The above steps will the most likly fix any email access problems. If you are still having problems then please contact our techincal support.

* If you are using free anti virus and firewall software then there may be a compatibility issue. We reccomend that you use a paid for solution that combines anti virus and firewall functionality from the same software company.

With this error message you have either entered the wrong POP3 Mail Server Details, you are not connected to the Internet or the mail server is not operational. To check if the mail server is functioning go to your website. If you can view your webpages then the mail server should also be working, Alternatively go to www.3Legs-Status.com, here we will post details of any problems we are experiencing.

Unable to Relay Mail
This is usually an indication that the SMTP server that you have set is not able to relay mail from the ISP account you are dialed in via. Check that the SMTP mail server is set in your mail client to that of your ISP.

Username or Password Rejected
This will usually happen if the username or password have been entered incorrectly. This can also occur if a POP Lock occurs (See above error).

Unable to sent mail e-mail/user rejected
This will normally be the result of a incorrect e-mail address. Check the e-mail address is correct and does not contain any illegal characters such as a space.

Mail Undeliverable
This will occur for a number of reason such as:

  1. The destination e-mail address does not exist
  2. The destination e-mail server is unavailable for a long period of time
  3. The destination e-mail account is full
  4. The size of your e-mail is bigger than the maximum size allowed by the destination mail server
