Content Supply Guidelines

The following guidelines outline the formats that we accept content in. You can e-mail electronic files to us at projects@3Legs.com in PC format. E-mails should be kept as small as possible. We would recommend an e-mail size of no larger than 4Mb. If the files you are supplying are larger than this then you should send the files on floppy disk, 100mb or 250mb Zip Disk or CD in PC format. If you need to compress the files before sending them to us then please use one of the following compression formats TAR, gzip, UUencode, XXencode, BinHex, and MIME.

Details of how to create a compressed (Zipped) folder in WindowsXP can be found at: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;306531

Mac OS X users can find details about archiving files at: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=152335

All content to be supplied by the client should be provided promptly and in accordance with these guidelines to ensure that the development schedule is maintained. It is important that these guidelines are followed to ensure that the correct content is added to the correct page on your website. Failure to follow these guidelines may result in additional costs being incurred for your project.

Clients who supply content will need to use the appropriate software for the content supplied. Below is a table of different content with details of supported file formats.

Content Type Supported Formats
Text
  • .doc (Office 2000 and XP) *
  • .odt
  • .sxw
  • .rtf
  • .txt

Documents should clearly state which page the contents are for and any photos or images should be supplied separately to the document.

Please do not supply text as a PDF document.

* Users of Office 2007 will need to save files in the previous MS Word file format, .doc. The new .docx file format is not backward compatible.

Photos
  • .png (Recommended)
  • .tif
  • .jpg (Recommended)
  • .psd

All photos should be a minimum of 800-1200 pixels wide. The larger the supplied photo the better it is for us to work with. Photos that are scanned in should be scanned at 300dpi or higher.

Please do not supply photos as a PDF document.

Logos, Illustrations and other Graphics
  • .pdf (Recommended)
  • .ai
  • .eps
  • .fh
  • .cdr

All logos should be supplied in a vector format with all text converted to paths/curves. If you are not able to supply the logo in a vector format then a high resolution bitmap should be used.

If you are going to supply Logos, Illustrations and other Graphics as a PDF document then please ensure that any text is converted to paths or curves before creating the PDF.

PDF Documents All PDF documents should be optimised ready for web use. Such optimisation will reduce the file size for downloading over the Internet.
Product Data This will be entered via a web based interface. You will need to get the appropriate information ready to enter into this interface and upload the required photos at the required image size.

If you are submitting content by e-mail then you should limit the size of each email to 4Mb. If you are supplying a large number of files you should consider sending these on a CD or creating a compressed folder/file containing all these files and email that single file.
