Adding Products

Before you add any product to the system you first need to ensure that you have added any images/photos you wish to use with this product, click here for details of how to do this.

With all images added you are now ready to add the product data. To add a new product simply click the product tree menu option and follow the instructions below.

1. Click the product tree v2 option in the right hand menu. You will now see the product directory for all the products.

2. At the top is the main index of the product catalogue. The first thing you will need to do is add categories and sub categories. This is done by clicking the category under which you want the new category to belong and choosing "New Category".

3. Choose a name for the new category, if your product catalogue template uses an image then choose the image from the drop-down menu then click commit. Any additions you make will not immediately be displayed. To view any changes click the product tree option to reload the page.

   
   
   

4. Next you need to add the individual products. This is done by clicking on the category you want to add the product to and choosing "New Product".

   
   
   

5. You will now be presented with a window in which you can add the basic detail of the product.

   

   The following details each option.

   Name This is the name of the product. It should be unique to that product so that you a identify the product. Do NOT leave this field blank as it will make editing the product in the future impossible.

   Description 1 This is a short brief description of the product. This description is used on the product category page if it is used by your websites template.

   Description 2 This is the long description of the product. This description is used on a product information page if your product catalogue uses them. When you are entering a description if you wish to enter a line return with the text starting on the next line then you will need to enter the html tag <BR> for the line return to be displayed on your product page. If you want a black line between the 2 pieces of text then you will need to enter <BR><BR>.

   More Info Page If your product catalogue templates make use of a more information page link other than the product information pages then you can enter the full URL of the web page here.

   Image This is a drop-down list of all the images within the file manager. Choose the correct image for you product.

   Thumbnail This option has 2 options you can either choose an image from the drop-down list or have the system generate a thumbnail from the large image selected above. To auto generate a thumbnail simple enter the required width in the box provided.

   Base Price This is the price at which the product is sold.

Please Note
When choosing images for use with your product you need to ensure that the image has been upload via the file manager and is resized to the correct width for use with your product catalogue templates.

6. This is all the basic information for a product. Clicking commit will add the information to the database.
   

7. Repeat this process until all the products have been added.
   
8. After you add a product you will notice that it is not immediately shown in the product tree. This is a design function of the website to speed up the process of adding products. To refresh the product tree and view all the added items then please click the "Product Tree" link from the right hand menu.

9. Next you will need to set any product or item attributes that each product may have and delivery details.
   
10. Finally to for the products to be accessible on your website you need to export the catalogue.

Please Note
New products or changes to existing products will not appear on your website until you export the product catalogue.
