Set Item Attributes

If your products use item attributes we will have set the initial options.

Due to a problem with Microsoft Internet Explorer and our system we recommend that you use an alternative web browser if you wish to use this feature. We recommend that you use Mozilla FireFox as your web browser when using these features. Go to http://www.getfirefox.com for a copy of FireFox.

    Assigning Attribute Values to a product

    If your products use item attributes we will have set the initial options.

    1. Locate the product in the product tree and then click "Set Allowed Item Attributes" from the pop-up menu.

    2. You will now see a pop-up window with the item attributes. On the left are the item attributes that can be set on the right are the options for that attribute. Choose the attribute to set. If you need to create a new attribute then please see the instructions below.

    1. On the right you will see any values already assigned. From the dropdown menu choose the new value to assign to the given product. Repeat this until all the values required are assigned. If you need to add new values then follow the instructions below.

    1. Click commit to save these changes

    Creating an Item Attribute

    1. To set the item attributes for a product locate the product in the product tree and then click "Set Allowed Item Attributes" from the pop-up menu.

    2. You will now see a pop-up window with the item attributes. On the left are the item attributes that can be set on the right are the options for that attribute.
    1. To add a new attribute click the "New Attribute" button. Enter the name if the attribute in the pop-up window, don't enter any product id as this is for special use only. Then click comment. You will need to close and then reopen this widow before the new attribute is displayed. In order for this attribute to be displayed in the product catalogue the templates associated with your product catalogue export will need to be altered. This needs to be done by us so contact us with the details of the new attribute to be added.
    2. You will now need to add New Values for this Attibute.

    Adding New Values

    If your products use item attributes we will have set the initial options.

    1. To set the item attributes for a product locate the product in the product tree and then click "Set Allowed Item Attributes" from the pop-up menu.

    2. You will now see a pop-up window with the item attributes. On the left are the item attributes that can be set on the right are the options for that attribute.
    1. Select the attribute on the left that you wish to add a value to. The list on the right will now show the current values in the drop-down menu. Click New to add a new value to this dropdown menu.

    1. Click commit to save this value. This value will not appear in the drop-down options until the window is closed and re-opened. If you wish to add a number of values that go through the "new"button step for each value before you close and re-open the item attribute window.

    2. You will need to close the item attributes window and re open it before you see the values in the dropdown menu.

Please Note
New attribute values or changes to attribute settings will not appear on your website until you export the product catalogue. If you have added a new attribute it will not be displayed on your product pages until the CMS template file has been updated.
